There are teacher training colleges in the UK. I think the course is 3 or 4 years. If you have a degree there is a fast track course you can do. You do, however have to have at least english and maths GCSE.

As she has been working as a TA it is worth contacting universities to ask if they would accept her on an access course. These are designed for people who have no formal qualifications as a way to get into a degree course. Then she would need to either do a Qualified Teachers Status B.Ed degree which is either three or four years depending on the university and then she is done, or she could do a degree and do a postgraduate course called a PGCE which is one year. Another way to do it is to get a degree and then do Graduate Teacher Programme, you work in a school and train "on the job". Good luck toher, and she's very lucky to have your support.

Have a look at the Government's website on training to become a teacher.
