Being a teacher is very hard work.
You definitely need a bachelors degree to teach. Whether you need a masters degree or not depends on your state, the subject area you are teaching, and what kind of school you work at. To be a public school teacher in New York State, you must have a masters degree.
The salary is so-so. It also varies from place to place. Usually the benefits are very good and you have good job security. You also get a reasonable amount of vacation time (including summers off). However, if you consider the number of hours that teachers work during the school year, and the level of education required, the salary is much lower than for other professional jobs.
As for "is it hard?" The answer is "YES!" Teaching is very hard, especially for the first few years that you do it. You have to plan lessons every day. You have to grade student work. You have to constantly assess how your students are doing, and change your plans to meet their learning needs. You have to be able to pay attention to 100 different things at once. You have to be extremely patient and flexible. There is also a lot of paperwork and other duties, like putting up bulletin boards, keeping your classroom tidy, calling parents, doing progress reports and report cards, and on and on. Your duties never end, really.
Teaching is a high-stress, low-rewards kind of job. That's my opinion anyway.

I never thought I would feel the way I do towards the profession. But it is AWESOME!!!!!
I get to share 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with 20 kids who look up to me, and with whom I laugh, stress, celebrate, and learn. But, yes there is a lot of paperwork , planing, and we are underpaid. I am a teacher through Alternative Certification, you only need a Bachelors Degree and the school district will help you to get certified. Or you can get an Education Degree. It is hard in the beginning, until you get used to it and to the kids. After the first 3 months it is very enjoyable. It is like having a piece of wet clay in your hands and little by little you shape it, that's how teaching lets you shape our world's future. I make a difference in my kids life and they do as well in my mine.

they pay is awful for what you have to do. you typically need a bachelor degree, however at an associates, you can start substitue teaching. just think back to your days in high school. how did you or your classmates treat your teachers. most teens will treat the teacher like a joke. when i was in high school, I didn't notice it. however, when I left for the Navy, and came back from boot camp, I visited my high school and sat in on some classes, and in just three months after graduating, I realized just how much like dirt the students treated the teachers like dirt. If you are going to be a teacher, you really need to love the job, and have a great desire to teach.

i think it depends on what classes the teacher ends up teaching that make it difficult. normally in AP classes, students are much much, more serious. but in lower level classes like tech, the students are more slack.
