I come from a high school where we always have only one valedictorian. I remember when my roomate in college told me that he was one of 3 valedictorians and that they had all taken the same amount of AP and honor classes and all gotten straight As. I thought that was too many but then I found ou that one of my friends was one of 12 valedictorians. He claims that its because of their large graduating class but both of ours were around 800. Everybody in my graduating class got at least one B and I know that none of the upper classmen that graduated while I was in high school or since I've graduated have gotten straight A's

I am going into high school next year and I am faced with a serious delima, go to the public school and stay with my friends, or go to the International Academy and get into any college I want. I know that in the long run, the International Academy would be the better choice, but what about my friends? None of them (except one of them) could get into that school and I don't want to be separated from them. What do I do?

I started school weeks ago taking all regular classes. My school offers AP and IB but I didn't think I would be ready. I took all Pre-AP classes in freshman year, but then I was homeschooled for sophmore year and took correspondence courses. I'm now back in public school and I didn't think I would be ready for AP, but my regular English class is SO BORING!!!! Its way too easy for me and I finish my work ahead of everyone. I don't know what to do though because school started two weeks ago and AP English had two summer reading books that I haven't read. I am a year ahead of grade level in English. I take senior English instead of junior English. So in my actual senior year I will be taking a college English class. So, my question is, is it better for me to have a High A in English regular, or to switch to AP and get mid-B's? I'm talking about how it applies to getting into college. Which is better for them? I have taken the PSAT and excelled on the English portion and did...

is there anyway i can do GCSEs when i'm better - for free? Btw it is not in my control whether i want to do GCSEs this year or not, I have completed year 10 and have just started year 11 but the school might not let me do my GCSEs for numerous reasons. but i still want to do it but not for £300 for each GCSE. No of anything?

I live in an area where many of the students don't take challenging courses. Because of the low demand, my school doesn't offer AP classes. Instead, my high school only offers honors classes and Im taking as many as possible. I am worried that the high-standard colleges I apply to wont accept me because I haven't taken AP classes. Is this true?

Why not teach heavy use of mnemonics and mental math throughout grade school? I haven't a good source to tell me, but isn't there a coralation between active memory use and increased aplitude in math and increased rate of prossesing information, thus increasing learning time?
Why not teach younger students to memorize en masse for the purpose of increased mental capacity? And the data just might in use.
And ban calculators in school, and focus on mental mathematics throughout every grade?
Could we possibly even teach advanced physioarithmetic?
(means using limbs to count to high numbers and do math, thus treating the body as a really big abacus).

I'm sorry but I absolutely hate freshmen. They are so immature, especially the boys. Oh my god, they act like freaking pimps when they're like only 3 feet tall. Ugh and don't get me started on the girls. Why do freshmen girls act like such sluts? They're like mini-Paris Hiltons. I just had my second day of school yesterday and I just want to go up to the little freshmen and smack them. And i don't hate them just because they're freshmen and it's tradition, but some of them are real jerks/whores. They act like the own the hallway like its freaking middle school! But today they learned their lesson. IT'S FRESHMEN FRIDAYYYY! Haha upperclassmen brought in freaking eggs and ****. It was so funny. I'm so glad I'm a senior. Then i can leave this teenybopper hell hole and go on to the real world. Ugh one more year...

Btw, in high school.

My son is in 3rd grade at a new school, but in the same county as last year. My son has had all A's since 1st grade( won several awards) His new teacher takes points off of test and other work because of his handwriting. Is this fair when handwriting is not taught in the county? I admit his handwriting needs work, but it is very clear to read...sometimes just a little messy on the line.

This year our principal has decided all seniors will be given full schedule of 8 classes. So even if you need only five more classes for an advanced diploma, like me you get extras you don't need but can't drop. I have 3 useless classes, and I'm also enrolled in duel-enrollment, which means I attend a college composition course on Mondays from 4 to 6:40. What is your opinion on seniors being able to leave early versus being in school all day?

A couple of years back I was coming back from bathroom and met my high school principal and he smelled like pot like you wouldn’t believe! And before you ask, yes, I know how pot smells like enough to tell it from other things. Told my parents and they said that even if it’s true, there’s nothing I can do. Not that long ago I saw our dear principal smoking just outside school property, and it wasn’t a cigar if you know what I mean. He got me in trouble enough times and now I want to repay the kindness. That and the justice and fairness and health crap. I told a teacher, but she didn’t believe me. And I don’t have proof. Been taking a camera to school ever since, but never caught him again. Suggestions?
