High school just started, and my new math teacher is creeping me out. When ever any girl in the class needs help he always calls them "sweetie" and then when he goes to their desk to help them he touches our backs. I don't mean like pat them on the back, he holds his hand there. Also, this girl forgot her glasses the other day and the math teacher said "wear your glasses, you look good in them...I know" is this innapropriate?

I teach K and we have weekly homework. It has consisted of writing a story (drawing picture and labeling objects/people in it), reading a story with a family member and retelling what happened at the beginning, middle, and end of the book, writing #s 1-10, writing ABCs and identifying letter sounds, sorting laundry, setting the table, etc. I need help with new/similar ideas!! PLEASE HELP!!

I am working with my son on how to make plurals (school failed miserably, I'm working with him with a tutor now), and I need a lot of NOUNS ending with the letter Y to help him with the "add S" or "change the Y to an I and add ES" rule.

He's only in 6th grade so nothing too complicated, please, but I need as long as list as possible-- it's sure hard to search the dictionary after you've wracked your brain with words like "Story, gallery, alley, way, key, boy, toy, puppy"... you get the idea.

Any and all help appreciated!

Furthermore, in high school I also did some community service in a Convalescent Hospital. I used to help feed the elder and plan fun activities for them such as exercising and dancing.

ok, i have a child in the second grade who scored an 85 on a math paper. She got all the answers right. what she failed to do was underline the question in the word problem and then put a box around the main word in the question. this is what the teacher calls doing strategies. if she knows the answers and how to figure out the problem, then don't you think that these "strategies" are just time consuming and maybe even confusing?

my 14 year old ADHD son has been a freshman in high school for two weeks now. His counselor and english teacher called this morning, they want to switch him out of his difficult regular English class and put him in IEP english. I am all for this... regular english has an hour of homework a night and my son cannot keep up with this. Everyone seems to agree with this change... i want him in the smaller class... but what are the negatives of it? I feel like i'm a terrible parent for allowing my kid to be in a "special ed class".

I'm in my final years of school (I'm now at A Level) and I've kept a clean record - no detentions, suspensions, nada. There is the chance to go to India for four weeks to help the poor and deprived. Sounds great but unfortunately, it involves a biased decision from the senior staff and only a select amount of places.

I'm joining clubs already, being involved with the community and helping out at school - yet this still won't be enough to get me noticed more than the many kiss-ups we seem to have.

So er, any way I can be noticed by these teachers that will ultimately decide whether I go on this trip of a life time or not? I think "trying my best" can only get so far so handy tips will be grateful, thanks. :)
