ro-buddi is right, but I would add that when you transfer schools, you WILL be ineligible from competing on a sports team for one year.

If you are above 18 (and you should be at that level) you can transfer all on your own. You have to check the other school's requirements for academia, as well as the basketball program. See if they are accepting new members for the upcoming season, or if its already been decided. I high recommend that you speak with that schools athletics department to determine your options. Make sure that your financial aid is set. This seems an extreme amount of effort for something in the mioddle of the semester.

This very much depends on where you live. In some districts, you can choose which school you want to go to. In others, you have to go to the school they say you should go to. As to transferring to play basketball, this is a very poor idea. If you were a major star, they would be trying to get you to go to the other school, and you wouldn't be the one making that choice. The chances are pretty good that if you were to transfer, they wouldn't let you play for them, which would defeat the whole purpose.
