Hello! My high school did away with class rank. Now we have Summa *** Laude, Magna *** Laude, *** laude, and the "rest".

I'm in Summa *** Laude. I''m thinking about applying at MIT or some IVY League school. They usually pick up people from the top 10%.

So my question is:
1. Is that a good rank? I don't know my exact number.

2. How will those colleges view it?

3. I have a 3.4 GPA, HOWEVER, when you add in my honors credit its closer to a 3.9), also my school has a weird system wherean 'A' starts at 92 and I have a bunch of 90's. How will they figure that out?

Do you feel you were just given A's or did you actually work for them? Do you feel challenged, why or why not?

For example this lesson plan says duration is 2 weeks (180 hours + 3 hours of home work) to teach amphibians for grade 6. Five students are reading below grade level and one student is withdrawn. I don't live in the States but isn't the time allotted to teach is a max. of 45-60 mins. ( 3 times a week).

I had a job interview today for one of two kindergarten long term substitute positions. They told me during the interview that they were going to pick the top 2 or 3 candidates to perform a lesson plan and then they would make their decision on the final 2 teachers to hire. Anyway, I did get a call back from the school secretary this afternoon, and she said on Monday I have to perform a 15 minute lesson on comparing and contrasting geared toward kindergarteners. That's all the information she had. So I have just this weekend to develop a lesson plan, tweak it to 15 minutes, make sure it is based on compare/contrast, and is geared toward the kindergarten grade. (I should also mention that this is for an urban school with many kids coming from different backgrounds and poverty). I would really appreciate any advice, ideas, and suggestions! Thank you!

Many, if not all, of the questions I see asked here are easily answerable BY the quaestor (That's question-asker for you with a grade-school vocabulary) if they had used their search engine and a few keywords. Are people lazy, incapable, or illiterate?

(Private school teacher)

In June they said they cannot talk about the salary because they do not know the enorllment yet. So I waited ... in August they said they still cannot discuss it yet, but by this time I was planning on coming back. Now I've been teaching for 2 weeks, and I got my pay check with a letter. " No raise ... we are just glad we didn't have to layoff." Meanwhile I am making the same amount as last year. Every year there is supposed to be a raise. I was kind of expecting this. I am expecting my first child in January and am really bummed. This seems really unprofessional!

The barge she sat in, like a burnish'd throne,
Burn'd on the water: the poop was beaten gold;
Purple the sails, and so perfumed that
The winds were love-sick with them; the oars were silver,
Which to the tune of flutes kept stroke, and made
The water which they beat to follow faster,
As amorous of their strokes. For her own person,
It beggar'd all description: she did lie
In her pavilion--cloth-of-gold of tissue--
O'er-picturing that Venus where we see
The fancy outwork nature: on each side her
Stood pretty dimpled boys, like smiling Cupids,
With divers-colour'd fans, whose wind did seem
To glow the delicate cheeks which they did cool,
And what they undid did.
Her gentlewomen, like the Nereides,
So many mermaids, tended her i' the eyes,
And made their bends adornings: at the helm
A seeming mermaid steers: the silken tackle
Swell with the touches of those flower-soft hands,
That yarely frame the office.
