Hi. A G.E.D. is an equivalent to a high school diploma. Before you can register to take the five tests for G.E.D., you are required to present a letter from your high school's principal stating that you are no longer enrolled. The G.E.D. tests are difficult and, if at all possible, I encourage you to stay in high school or look into an alternative high school.

Best wishes.

GED is designed to help students who dropped out of high school and are now too old (adult) to go back. In most states there is a limit to the age you can attend school. In many states - high school grads are about 18. If you are older than that - you would have to seek your high school diploma in an adult school environment/GED. Whatever the case may be - Please do go forward with obtaining your GED - and then move on to college - technical, industrial, business - something that you like. The world in which we live is not as forgiving as you'd like to think. If you don't have that degree - you are limiting the amount of money you can LEGALLY make.

If you are already in school - why are you even thinking and considering earning a GED. Don't you dare think about quitting school........You can't take GED classes AND enroll in high school. That's not what the program is designed for.

Keep your head up...

Yes all you have to do is study and pay for the test. I would not replace a G.E.D. with a high school diploma though. I would suggest taking classes at a community college to advance your education and possibly transfer those classes to your high school. I did that when I went to high school.
