Listen to him or her and complete all the tasks that he gives you eg homework, assignments etc. Probably a good way to suck up to the teacher is to sit in the front row and be nice to him.

They always say make your enemies your friends. Try to show a sincere interest in the subject he/she is teaching. Ask questions. Stay after class and tell the teacher that you want to do well in his/her class, and ask for clarification or help on a particular assignment. Teachers respond well to sincerety in their students and interest. You don't need to brown nose so your friends will think you are a suck up, just be a good student and do the work, but don't be afraid to ask for help. Most teachers I know will bend over backwards for the students who try hard and come in to schmooze a little.

Oh my gosh, this is such a sweet question.
I wanted to add, that after all the excellent advice about being good in class... sometimes teachers will yell, or pick on you, or be mean, regardless of how well you try to behave.
Count the days till you move up a grade, and don't take what she does or says to heart.

Teachers are mean because they want respect. I teach first grade and I am not mean enough. The kid, even at that age WALK all over me. This is my eighth year teaching and I am learning to be a little tougher and still be nice....just respect him/her and it should be fine. GOOD LUCK

Pay attention in class, do your homework and be polite. Then the teacher won't have any reason to be mean to you.

Just DO YOUR WORK! If you just pay attention in class and do your classwork and homework, any teacher will love you forever.
