i took her to the doctor early in the morning, but because she was a new patient, she couldn't get seen until the next day. i then took her to school because she insisted on going! (she's trying to get a trophy for pefect attendance). but because we couldn't see the doctor, the doctor could not write an excuse--and now the school will not accept the excuse. even though the principal called and verified that i was there! is there something that i can do? i feel bad for my daughter who missed only 1/2 a day!!! and because of that, she can't get a trophy....please help!

I read a study that said that boys account 85% of all behavioral issues in school (primary school). I have found this to be the case at the school I work at (I am not an actual teacher but I do work with the children). I would say that more than half of the boys (these are boys in grades 1-4) have very poor social skils, act crass, show very little respect for property (toys, etc.) & want to do nothing else than play hand-held video games. They have no interest in reading books, etc. Are all boys like this across the country? Or is it just because our school is on the border of a high-crime section of the city. What, if anything, can be done to remedy this problem?

Some of these questions, I cannot even begin to answer, because they are so grammatically incorrect, and I can't even understand what it is they are asking. How do people get by in life with such careless use of the English language?

Anyone else saddened by the lack of grammer skills illustrated by those who post on Yahoo Answers?

Other examples? I know this is not a great question, but still think it's a point that deserves being brought to light.

Thanks.

The school I am teaching in is under the Reading First Grant. We have many, many teachers leaving and more that are trying to. Is it really worth losing our best teachers due to the stress? Is it really improving how our students read? Comprehension is at a low, but they sure can call the words! Which one matters?!!
