i took her to the doctor early in the morning, but because she was a new patient, she couldn't get seen until the next day. i then took her to school because she insisted on going! (she's trying to get a trophy for pefect attendance). but because we couldn't see the doctor, the doctor could not write an excuse--and now the school will not accept the excuse. even though the principal called and verified that i was there! is there something that i can do? i feel bad for my daughter who missed only 1/2 a day!!! and because of that, she can't get a trophy....please help!

Schools should banish the "perfect attendance" awards. They encourage people to go work no matter what. If one of my employees comes in sick, I send them home. Why? They absolutely don't perform up to par and are much more likely to have a workplace accident. Also, I don't want them spreading their illness to others, resulting in greater loss of production in the workplace.

If you want to do your daughter a favor, go to the school board and demand they stop awarding children for working when they are sick.

Trophies for perfect attendance are a crock. They award children for not getting sick, which most kids I know can't control.
