Kids all have different needs and it's too bad that not everyone can see that. Stand by your friends so they know that there is someone they can count on even if they are different. I recently read an article in my local newspaper about a high school (can't remember where - I think Calif.) where some kids formed a club to be friends with the special needs students and hang out with them at lunch, after school, etc. It was nice to see that not all high school kids are mean and can be quite generous with their time and friendship. Those are tough years for anyone, but especially someone with special needs.

I am sorry to hear that. Sometimes we all need some sort of help In areas of our life. Special Ed helps those that are in need of help in learning. I bet they wouldn't make fun if your friend was a great soccer player and was able to constantly help in winning the game. They need to get to know him and find out how they might help instead of just making jokes.

people who pick on the spec ed kids are basically bullies. The kids in the spec ed class are already self concious about being in spec ed. they do not need to be centered out by othere..They just want to fit in with the rest of the kids at school...

Maybe you could tell that to your freinds?

stand up for them...say something to the people who are picking on them...you dont have to say much just say something like "hey leave them alone" thats all you don't have to be ashamed!
