I'm a teacher in the UK and a few years back I set up a school website using free space from a UK company .. they had recieved backing from EU (apparently) to frovide free webspace to all schools in EEC to build a website... I have forgotten the companies name and cant find them with a web search! Anyone have any ideas.... This company had awards for winning websites... and Im sure had an Owl as a logo?

A local school has a no written homework policy.They expect
Children to read each night and learn spelling words etc. What are your views on this? Does homework help or is it just another chore for working parent and tired kids after a whole day at school ?

Could it place extra stress on the child and be a hindrance rather than a help?

I'm about to teach a bunch of 6th graders how to write a research report. I always hated what I felt were unnecessary evils---turning in note cards and outlines, when I didn't actually use or need them to organize my thoughts. I'm trying to gather different methods of researching and organizing thoughts that REAL people use. Any ideas would be great!

My 7 year-old seems to be having some problems with math, it was not a strong subject for me either as a child, and as I progressed through school it became more difficult, and I HATED it more...I do not want the same thing to happen to her. I am very concerned because right now it is simple addition and subtraction....she refuses to do anything with a "number line", and still has several incorrect answers on her class, and homework. Most of the time, if she attempts the question a second time she answers correctly, sometimes I have to "help" her to get the correct answer, and I do not want to do her work for her...any suggestions will be appreciated.
