In the United States, the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, is tops in prestige.

In the United Kingdom and the world at large, Eton is the most pretigious prep school.

Exeter...okay, I might be just a bit biased since I did go there, but it is generally considered one of the top two boarding schools in the U.S. Of course, there are other schools like Andover (boo), Chaote, and Kamehameha, but Exeter is more well-rounded. It has an incredible friendly and pleasant enviornment. Everyone looks each other in the eyes, and you really connect with your classmates.
However, none of these schools are easy to get into. You have to be willing to work hard, and good grades are a must. Most of the top boarding schools schedule appointments for prospective students months in advance. There are children from all over that attend these private institutions, and many of the good ones are only for high school students. (I'm going to assume that you are either in high school or you are looking for one).
You should really look around. Search the internet depending on what state/country you'd like to go to school in. Also, talk to your school guidance counselor and your parents.

In New England I believe it is Phillips Academy in North Andover, MA, followed by Chaote...somewhere in Connecticut.
Bush was a cheerleader there
and Kennedy went to Choate.
New England has loads of prep schools and we have one 1/2 mile from my home that is over 200 years old and the kids come from all over the world...at about 15,000.00 per year. Imagine that?
Its nice living in a prep school town but I couldn't afford to send my kid there.
