I think reading and learning spelling words sounds like a good amount of homework for a child.
There is no real need for the kind of home work you will get at high school - i think its good to let them be kids when they are young - play and develop socially.
I also don't think there are a need for most children to have after school school work clubs which extend the school day by two hours.
The only exception to this is maybe if your school doesn't do foreign languages and there is a club that does this - thats probably a good idea and will be something the child would enjoy.
Or if your child is a little bit behind with maths or reading or writing skills - maybe some extra help there would make a positive impact as long as the child isn't made to feel like a failure for being behind.
Children at that age need to be learning how to learn and getting a passion for it rather than being bogged down by tons of work and lots of academic pressure.

I believe that the schools of today stunt the growth and development of young people and homework is an extention of this that prevents them from being normal or doing something useful after a whole day in prison.
You are correct, it does place an extra stress and is a hindrance rather than a help. Get your child out of that environment and check into the homeschooling laws.

I think home work is good for kids in primary school. It gets the parents involved with their child's education. And keeps the parent informed of how their child is doing in school, before any problems arise that call for a parent teacher conference. Plus there usually just isn't enough time in a school day for all school work to be done.
I also don't think it should be considered a chore for a parent to help their child with home work.

Sometimes homework is more a way for the parents to see how their children are doing in school, but excessive homework for kids up to 9 years of age is ridiculous.

sure, some useful homework different than the homework for homework sakes. the homework could be finished by youngsters themselves different than decrease than the help of mom and dad. it quite is a examine of instructors' paintings interior the instructions, additionally a prepare for what they discovered from the instructions. extra importantly the teachers could examine them. homework should not be designed to be finished by organic mom and dad' extra coaching. My journey is that my youngster's homework is something that the teachers have not completely taught, or taught in any respect, and permit mom and dad to finalise. i've got self belief that solid self-discipline can in basic terms be discovered from paintings. no homework in any respect isn't a competent concept, and is no longer the way of gaining expertise of the two. the degree at often going on college is for little ones to benefit various uncomplicated products. without this uncomplicated maths, technology and literacy, are they qualified human little ones, or monkeys. of direction, no longer too lots homework.. Now if we ask for no homework, then instructors could ask for coaching no longer something yet relaxing works next...
