It really depends where you are and where you are going to be. Chinese is the most widely spoken, but it's only because there are many Chinese people. So, if you want to be like the majority, Spanish is the way to go. It's the most widely spoken after Chinese. French is also a good language to learn. I learned it, but now I'm in Spanish. I don't know anything about German though, sorry. If you don't like any of our answers here, just follow what you really want to do, that's all.

German is one of the easiest languages that I have learned. All of the nouns are capitalized! It's really easy to learn. And the grammar is not complicated at all, like Latin or French. I've never taken Spanish before, so I wouldn't know about that.

Any language you learn will open your mind and expose you to different aspects of culture in the world you didn't know existed.
I learned German and Japanese and I have enjoyed both and have had plenty of opportunity to speak them. The Chinese characters used to write Japanese are particularly cool to learn.

Someone once said "Every time you learn a new language you gain a soul". You can't go wrong with any of those choices.

Like everyone else has said..take spanish. That's of course if you live in the U.S. More and more jobs will require you to speak that language within the next ten years. The population of spanish speakers is also growing extremely rapidly.

Im a native french speaking born in the U.S. and I speak english and Spanish as a result of living in southern California. In High School, I took German and it is very similar to english but there one problem which is the sentence structure. Sometimes verbs would go at teh end or the beginning kinda like Latin style of writing all mixed up.
So I would go for either Spanish or French. To be honest French is hard for non-natives but a beautiful language. If you stay int he UNited States go for spanish. If you plan on going to europe, Africa, or asia for business French would be the best because they speak in every continent even in south america in French guinea. French is the official language of 28 countries such as
Belgium, benin, Burkina-Faso, Burundi, cameroon, Canada, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Diibouti, France, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, and Vanuatu.French is really hard in grammer in pronunciation but if you are willing to work for it then go for it.
Now Spanish on the other hand is only spoken IN south America and the United States. But Spanish is useless in Europe, Asia, or Africa. Dont count on it for speaking it. Spanish is easier to pronounce is also a romantic language but I think French is prettier. Grammer is really easy and conjugation also. So if you want easy for grammer, vocabulary, pronounciation, go for Spanish.

I would choose Spanish, if you're American, it will be spoken more often than German or French...

If you're ever going for a job, though, I hear Arabic is right on the money!

You can start with english if you like, but my choice is spanish, since it's #1 spoken language in the world. Plus, in elementary you can get classes to learn english.
