I live in NYC. Never finished college but I work & raise 2 kids & I want my degree. I enrolled in an online correspondence school since going to school at night & weekends is impossible. My husband gets home after 9pm. Is it even worth it? My friend who is in HR said when resumes come in with any degree from ANY online school she's told to toss them. That's just 1 company's policy but am I wasting my time?? I have over 16 years experience as an Office Administrator & have worked at Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers & other big name firms but now want the degree to back it up. Is it the norm for companies to not accept these accreditted degrees? I come home help the kids with hw, make dinner, get them ready for bed, iron their uniforms then stay up until 11:30pm or later studying and doing the exams online and wonder if this is a waste of my time and money. I was so happy I was making this step & my friend saying that has stressed me out. Anyone out there know???

I cannot get accepted into any college, I have literally sent over 200 letters and every single college rejected me along with local community colleges (which were 3 of them). I have been told that dropping out is the best plan by everyone including my counsler. Now im wondering what age you have to be in order to drop out?

leave or stay

my father is in prison, and it's only my mom and little brother, my mom only speaks spanish so she obviously is incapable of a high salary job here in US

In college or university, do students spend most time at home for studying after attending to all classes each day?
Or.. do they have to spend time studying in library or other places? I just want to know about college life as a senior

my university is on the semester system and I was curious how the quarter system works.

1. Do they graduate early, since they are taking so many units? Or is the graduation unit requirement higher?
2. Do they take less classes per quarter? (our average is four classes per semester)
3. Do you think the quality of education suffers, as everything is "rushed?" or is just alot of material not covered in class, and it is alot more self-studying?

anything else to help me understand? thanks =)

I'm currently a senior in highschool, have a 3.6 GPA, 1850 (out of 2400) SAT score which i will retake soon, I have also taken SAT II Math 2C (620/800) and SAT II Biology (640/800) I also have some extracurricular activities and have taken two AP classes.

I have considered applying to a few of the UCs (mainly Irvine and San Diego) and Purdue, and University of Illinois (both Urbana-Champagne and Chicago) however, I'm uncertain about my chances with these colleges. I intend to stay in California/move to Illinois where i have family and relatives, however, I'll take the best college I am admitted to.

What are my chances with being admitted to the schools listed above? Can anyone tell me my "safe schools" and what my "reach schools" should be. I am currently undecided about my major, however i have taken an interest in media and business, but I honestly don't know what major to choose!

What should ido?
Thank you to all the readers who took the time to read this and respond

I'm absolutely terrified of public speaking. I'm usually the very "timid" and quiet girl, so giving presentations in high school was very difficult for me. As soon as I thought that phase was over, I realized that I had to make numerous presentations in college (this is my first year of college). The presentation I am mostly fearing is in my Psychology 101 class. Our professor requires us to participate in a debate in class. Sounds fine? It's not for me! I have over 200 people in my class! How can I overcome this constant, consumming fear? It's very anxiety-producing and it's giving me a great deal of stress. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

I'm currently at a community college in Illinois and was planning to go to the University of Illinois at Chicago next fall. If I get a 4.0 am I likely to be accepted, along with the minimum amount of credit hours? I think it's 24 when applying and 36 when transferring? Is that correct?

I'll feed all of your curiosity. I was doing homework over the summer for a Chemistry AP class and a person I didn't even know wanted the homework to copy. Being the sucker I am I made a copy and gave it to him. So what is a person to do? How about...turn in the copy I gave him with my name scribbled out. Anyways apart from the drug investigation that should be going on I get a 0 on the homework, ouch but not crippling, and I get an account of "academic dishonesty" on my record.

How big of an effect does this have on college appliances? Please let me know why you think your answer is correct. I would appreciate this, thanks.

I'm at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, FL and it seems like everyone stays up until 4 AM partying and yelling and going in each others rooms all night. My roommate tends to leave the door open and people come in and go through my stuff and the other roommate is from Bulgaria and gets calls at 5AM on, and I am getting no sleep and I can't study worth crap. Is this normal for other colleges? I feel like I'm the only one that doesnt get trashed or high and I get put down for it. I don't even know where I could transfer if it came to that, I'm from 18 hours away in Delaware and I loathe all of the local schools up there for "atmosphere" or "location", etc.
