Ive been thinking about getting a degree from Athabasca University which is an online school that is FULLY accreditated. I can do either 1 or 2 more years, after I get my 3 year diploma in business. Either

1 more year for a Bachelor of Human Resources and Labor Relations, or

1 more year for a Bachelor of Management, or

2 more years for a Bachelor of Commerce

What do you think? Anyone else have an opinion on Athabasca, remember its fully accreditated, not a degree mill.

I screwed up big time my first two years of high school but my mom had breast cancer, and my dad lost his job so it was a really tough time for me. Currently I'm starting my Junior year of high school with an average 3.29 weighted GPA.My class rank is low 271 out of 991 but my class is very smart and competitive.I took some Honors/AP classes but my transcript for the most part are filled with C's with some B's and some A's. I still have this year and half my of my senior year to improve my GPA.And I'm determined to do better. For SAT what score should I aim for?My extracurriculars are not too impressive but I do have them. I'm part of two clubs and hold the position of treasury in one of them.I'm part of a peer to peer helping program at my school. And I volunteer at my local hospital.

The schools I'm looking at(I live in CA):
UCSC
UCR
UC Merced
UCSB
UCI
UCD

And can you tell me what your high school GPA was/is?What college you ended up going/well go.

considering you make all good grades, wouldn't you want your first semester to be accounted into your GPA before you apply?
what's the advantage of early action?

Alright here. I'm an ambitious nerd growing up in Austin, TX, currently in senior year of high school, and working my way through my undergrad applications!

With my current stats, am I more likely to get in MIT or Caltech? I realize there is hardly any chance I'll get into either, but hey, there's no harm in giving it a shot! =)

Rank: 4/530
GPA (weighted): 5.4
GPA (unweighted): 4.0
Target major: Computer Science/Engineering
Ethnicity: Asian American

Total (all 4 years):
Honors classes: 10
AP classes: 12 (World History, French IV, French V, English III, English IV, Studio Art, Computer Science II, Physics C, Calculus AB, Macroeconomics, US Government, Biology)
Dual credit: 2

SAT: 720 Math, 680 CritRead, 720 Writing (will be retaking soon)
ACT: none yet
SAT II: none yet (plan take Physics, French, Biology, Math)

Extras:
- Theatre, piano, violin, dance, various clubs, singing organization (owned/operated by me), science fair (placed at state twice)

Shimer University in Chicago. There are less than 100 students, so there aren't really a variety of classes to take. Do you reccomend going there/to a liberal arts college? What are the advantages/disadvantages of going to one? Any other information would be great! Thanks!

My girlfriend has graduated from college last month. She has not been finding any jobs that are related to her field yet, and she wants to stay in town. She has applied for many jobs that only require a high school diploma. Almost none have called her for an interview. She is a college graduate. My question is, will employers not call people because they are over-qualified? In her case, is she not getting calls because those employers are calling people with only a high school diploma? I need an outside opinion on this.

Right now I'm on Year 6 at a junior college, a 2-year college, to get my General Ed credits, before going to film school. I feel like just giving up, but won't. How long should I go until I just give up? 12 years, including University work? I have no credits towards my degree.

I have a Skills Certificate in Digital Video.
I'm working towards an IGETC degree (Associate's degree in General Ed)
I want to transfer to a film school for a Bachelor's degree in Film.

Well I am getting to the point in which I need to know what I can do for a living. I figured it out but I need some help. I wanna be a lawyer. Ok make a good salary right? but theres a catch. I also wanna be a History Teacher. Is there any courses you need to become a history teacher or even a teacher? I after my years of college are finished I was thinking about working at a law firm for two or three years then resign and go work for a High school,Middle School. would that be smart to do. I've already heard that teachers have crappy salaries so I wanted to get a house which I can pay with from my law years. Does that sound like a good investment or should I try a diffrent approach?

I am also in the International Baccalaureate Program (even though i may not spell it right).

I know UF accepted about 1150 IB students during the 2004-2005 school year; however, I have also heard that they cut down on letting in IB students. Also, many of the IB students at my school last year did not get accepted at UF with average scores.

I pay special attention to extra-curricualr activities and I have emphasized my quality leadership positions in a limited number of clubs. I know having too many clubs looks kinda tacky.

I have a cousin at UF but i have heard that only immediate family is considered as alumni.

I really want UF to be my primary college and want to be accepted into the honors program. I plan to take the ACT's tomorrow and again in October. Also i will be taking the SAT's again to crack 1400. I got a 2010 composite after taking it twice.

Also, will the ACT that i take in October be accepted as part of my application? Or is that too late?

Thank you

Here's my short story: I've been going to college for about 9 years now. Yes 9 years. I've had to work 40+ hours to maintain my family and pay for college. I had to take a few semesters off during my college career to take on two jobs (80+ hours) in order to pay off school, and bills. Well I'm finally graduating this fall with a 2.82 G.P.A.(bachelors in Finance) and would like to attend graduate or law school sometime in the future. I would like to attend a top university(University of Chicago, Wharton, Harvard Business School) but my concern is that the low gpa wont help my cause. Hypothetically if I did really well on my Gmat, would that help any? Thanks

I want to attend the Respiratory Therapist Program after I graduate high school next year in state, but the closet college that has the program is about an hour away from home, it's in a really small town that doesn't have any on campus housing or apartments. Is it unrealistic to travel an hour away to school? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I am in college and I'm thinking about dropping out in order to work full-time. I am going to do this next year when I have $60,000 saved up. I figure that will be enough to get me started and I should be able to survive the rest of my life if I continue to work and maybe invest that money somehow. I always hear people say "Stay in school" but I think I'd learn more if I dropped out and worked. Am I making a bad decision or do you think it sounds good? I want to get married at that time, too.. so I figure that if I work full-time and let my wife go to school and do whateevr, not only will she be happy but we'll be able to save money too.

I have a 3.42 unweighted GPA and a 4.24 weighted as of tenth grade (didn't get my report card for eleventh).
Also I took my SAT last June and got a 1990 total but I am retaking it October, dumb writing section: 610 ><
Yet to take my SAT Subject Tests,

Last year I took 3 AP and 3 honor courses, recieving 4 B's and 2 A's and this year I'm taking 5 AP's and an honors courses.

and I have 100+ community service hours working with Miami-Dade County PRIDE program.

But extracurricular activities are lagging behind, I'm only in the Italian club.

So, do you think I have a good chance at getting into Brown University? And, don’t worry, Brown is not the only school that I will be applying to, I have some safety schools.

Another question on this board got me thinking about this and it's something I've been curious about for a while. I'm asking because I have a disability - actually various physical disabilities resulting from a brain injury - and I am in graduate school. I'm considering getting a PhD after I get my Master's. I am just curious what people with disabilities go through when they decide to become professors and I'd also like to hear from students who've had a professor with a disability or professors who have a collegue with a disability. What was your experience like? Thanks guys!

I have a high GPA for a bio major based on the fact that it is above the average for top med schools (usual majors are bio, biochem, other science associated majors). However, since law schools typically have a higher GPA acceptance average than medical schools, I am just in the range for the top law schools. Would law schools take into account that I am a bio major or would they still base their assessment of my GPA on their average.
