What is "act of default" in a divorce?

My b/f is in the middle of a divorce has been for about 2 yrs. She won't do anything. Today out of nowhere she called and said that he would get something in the mail. And that it had something to do with the "act of default". So what is it? I really want to know. Plz tell if you know.

I don't absolutely know, since these things differ by state, but the only kind of default I know of in divorce is when someone fails to respond when they are served with divorce papers, and the other party gets what they requested by an act of default.
