I took this from my school's site:

"Community Service Program

Participation in the Community Service Program is mandatory for all Secondary School students. Students select two community projects per year, ranging from helping to raise awareness of environmental issues, volunteer at orphanages, and centers for the aged, infirmed and disabled."

Does this count as extra activities that will help our acceptance to college? Or is this a thing every high school does?

I still have two more years to complete my bachelors in accounting from the University of Phoenix (UOP). I know that UOP is not a big name university and has a stigma of giving "A"s. Now I believe that I wasn't one of the lucky once because most of my UOP instructors were tough and very demanding. I'm maintaining a 3.5 GPA though I wonder if it will stay this way for long.

I'm attending UOP because out of high school I had to work (my parents kicked me out on my senior year of high school for being gay and I ended up living in a homeless shelter). Yes I did graduate from high school and got a very good job within the mortgage industry as a loan officer assistant. I work between 40-50hrs/week thus night school was out the window and online learning became the only means of getting an education.

I want to attend a law school and given my hard work I believe that I should have the right to attend one given that I am in an accredited institution. Please advise. Thx

Do Ivy League Colleges and big Colleges (like Stanford) prefer Americans? Like, is the chance for applicants from America bigger than the chance for Europeans, Arab, Indians, Asians... to get accepted? Will being half american help? Because I heard that an Asian with a 4.0 GPA and a perfect SAT did not get accepted to a big college in America! What do you think?

I was going to transfer schools until i figured out how much im learning here.I figured some people would look down on me since i finished here.I started with a g.e.d and corporations might say why didnt you go to a traditional university since u will finish at 22.I feel like phoenix is teaching me.Should i feel bad that im actually learning.I know there are some schools that are harder,Like i first wanted to transfer my credits to townson university,or bowie state, but the point is i feel like im getting to know alot about business in general.Would you look down on a younger student who finished at uop,and walked away knowledgable, should i challenege myself more,or stick to uop?please help?

So i started getting my masters about 2 years ago and I've already got 9 credits, and I need 36 to obtain a Masters...but what im studying im just not interested in, its an education program and i just want to study the language of Spanish itself and not the education part of it to become a teacher....my professors have told me this is probably what i shouldnt do, take another route, because trying to obtain a masters in education is not my thing. I feel so sad and disheartened for dropping out, i havent told my mom, but im afraid she will flip or be disappointed, my friends and father are cool with it, but i just feel so lost and hopeless ive started something and didnt finish. Am i doing the right thing? Im taking a class right now and bombed my mid term and have a slim chance of receiving a B to stay in the program. Is it possible to acheive a masters online solely on the language of spanish and where? I think I made a wise choice by removing myself but I dont know....any advice?

I saw an item in the news the other day where some "college", I can't remember which, wanted to change its name to "university". Or maybe it was the other way around - I forget.

Anyway, they seemed to feel that one title or the other had more cache and would attract a higher caliber of student.

Does anyone know - is there any specific thing that distinguishes a "college" from a "university"? Obviously it's not important but I've always been curious.

I was informed by an unnamed source that in the state of NJ that if you have or will have 120 credits by graduation and have completed all the university's requirements and all your degree requirements, that the school can't keep you from graduating. I called the department of higher education and verified this and they said that despite the school's policy if i complete all general and degree requirements, that i may graduate with 120 credits.

Anyone know if that is 100% true or can anyone cite a source or state law or anything?

I recently started going to college again after a break of about 12 years. I really like school and I'm doing well in all my classes but I've come to realize that I hate the major I've chosen, computer networking. I really don't see myself running cable and trying to diagnois people's networks; I have enough problems trying to figure out what's wrong with my home computer. I want to change my major to something that still involves computers. Does anyone have any suggestions?
