I was informed by an unnamed source that in the state of NJ that if you have or will have 120 credits by graduation and have completed all the university's requirements and all your degree requirements, that the school can't keep you from graduating. I called the department of higher education and verified this and they said that despite the school's policy if i complete all general and degree requirements, that i may graduate with 120 credits.

Anyone know if that is 100% true or can anyone cite a source or state law or anything?

120 credits with a passing grade is the norm.
So if you took the general ed courses and the courses for your degree, you graduate (unless you owe the school money or something).

There are specific guidelines you must follow to graduate. Check to see what they are for your college.

I had to do a credit check the semester before eligibility for graduation. Since I was in Liberal Studies I had to check with more than one department. Once all the credits are in order I had to fill out a paper of intent to graduate.

The requirements are in the catalog the year you entered the college. If you can not find the rules check with the department councilor.

As others have stated you will have to satisfy any outstanding parking tickets or monies owed to the college before they allow you to graduate.

I hope this helps you. Good luck.

I think you are being fed a line. go to your school registrar, and talk to them. They will tell you the requirements for graduation. You will not find them here on yahoo. They school has it own rules, and there will not be a state law that goes against this. Read your own question, you must complete the university's requirements. Then you can graduate. Do you think citing any law will get you a diploma??? You get the diploma when you complete the requirements.

it really depends upon the school sorry but normally 120 credits is the number of credits you need to graduate. I would talk to your university and find out why they are not allowing you to graduate.

it depends on the school, as the admin office

No school has to let you graduate. YOu have to meet all requirements. And if you owe them $1.50 for an overdue book, you won't gradute. It is all in their hands.
