Talk with a teacher that you trust or a guidance councelor. If you have a family friend who is well educated, ask him for advice.
The link that I provide below has a lot of information about colleges. It also has a tool that asks you about your background and interest, and then suggests several colleges that are right for you.

Wow, I'm so excited to see this question! I'm a senior, and I've just gone through this whole process, and come out alive, with acceptances from some fairly decent colleges. I'd say the most important thing about this whole ordeal is really researching schools you're interested in. US News and World report is a great place to get started... you can figure out where you fall in as far as grades/SAT scores are concerned. And then you can visit sites like collegeconfidential.com, and find out what schools have the majors you're interested in and how good their programs are. It can be a painstaking process (it took me a good year to bring it down to 13 schools, and I still wished I'd applied to one or two more), but as long you have some idea of what you want in a college and keep it in mind, you should be fine. Good luck!!

Remember to think about a personal statement that makes a huge impact on the admissions and those responsible for admitting or rejecting students. Apply to at least 4 schools so in case you don't get into one you have others you can accept in their place. I applied to 3 colleges and didnt get into two of them but the last one I did and finished my bachelor's in 2005.

Yes there a few schools where you'll be able to take the ones forms of categories, however they're generally the group school ones. four 12 months tuition ones require a variety, probably cash to use, and essays. I had taken a cake redecorating elegance as soon as at a group school. And sure, I did meet my partner at school. It was once our freshman 12 months at Michigan State University. We are supposed for each and every different!
