If you want an education get a BA., if you just want a piece of paper that says you went to college get an AA. If you are not serious about learning, in other words not interested in taking classes for the pure joy of learning than skip the 4 year degree. Computer networking is constantly changing and most of the people who succeed are those who have far more practical experience than classroom work. My husband is a network engineer who constantly has to deal with people who have 4 year degrees in networking and have no experience and never update their skills.

A bachelor's degree is better.

A BS or BA usually takes four years. An AA takes two years. Four year colleges don't even bother giving them out. If you leave a community college with a C average after two years you get an associates degree. Leave a four year college with an A average after two years -- you have a better education than the guy with an AA, but the only thing you can be called is a college dropout.

The Bachelors won't guarantee any more money, but an Associates is just half a Bachelors to many people. You might want to go on and get the Bachelors just to know more, and get more confidence.

Associates is only the first two years and the bulk of your gen ed requirements for a 4 year school. Bachelors is important, but even now that's not enough many are going for a masters in their field.
