I'm a college student taking Calculus 2.
I got an A on my first test, and today I just took my second test.
Yesterday, I studied math for 7 hours - just doing integrals non stop, and went to bed at around 12:30 midnight. My math class is 8:15 in the morning.
I was really hoping i'd do well on the test today, but there were 2 questions I just couldn't figure out, one of them was: the integral S X^3 / X^8 + 1 dx . And the other one was something really complicated I can't type in here. After the test, I thought back and realized WOW it was so obvious... F(x)= Arctan (X^5) + C. I cannot believe I was so damn stupid and did not figure it out. So my question is....is there such a thing as overstudying? Did I overstudy? Does that actually have a negative effect on you?Because during the test - I felt so stupid - I just stared at those problems and couldn't come up with anything in my head..and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to grades so you can imagine how hard this is for me

Hi, a lot have people have told me that going to another school to obtain your Masters is better than going to the same school for both Bachelors and Masters degrees. I have heard it makes you look more "well rounded", etc. I am considering Graduate School next year, however, due to finances and living situations, I am probably going to stay and go to the same college for my Masters after I graduate. Any imput would be appreciated, Thanks:)

I'm currently a freshman, BioSci major at UCI and I know I want to go into the field of Pharmacy. At one of the Pharmacy Club meetings I attended, the speakers mentioned something about Pharmacy Schools looking favorably on non-science based majors (English, History, Economics, etc) when accepting applicants. I was wondering if changing my major to something like English and still completing all of the necessary pre-pharmacy courses would prove to be a good move, or should I just stick with my BioSci Major?

As of today, I've been rejected to every UC I applied to leaving me the option of either going to a cal state or a community college. I was wondering what my chances are of getting into a medical school and how much harder it would be if I go to a cal state rather than attending a community college and transfering to a UC. Does going to a cal state dramatically reduce my chances of getting into a medical school? My choices for cal states are San Diego State University and California State University Long Beach and if I go to a community college, it will most likely be Pasadena City College.

I'm interested in getting into Northwestern University to study music.

But... as of right now... my chances of getting in are not great.

I screwed around my fresh. and soph. year and now I'm frantically trying to save my GPA. (It's currently only 3.4.. which is basically a 'C' at my high school.)

Does anyone know specifically what Northwestern requires to gain admission? (Required credits, ACT/SAT scores, etc etc)

Also, I have no idea if it's really true, but our guidance counsellors have been drilling into us that colleges look for students from my high school. Will that have any pull at all?

I heard if you major in something other than the usual bio, chem,.. (life sciences) and do the pre-med requirements you stand out from the crowd. But if you take more life science courses aren't you better prepared for med school and therefore have a better chance at elite med schools?

Is it easy to transfer from a community college to UIC? Do they reject a lot of people from community college? I'm from Los angeles and I really want to go to UIC, however I want to go to a community college first at IL to get rid of the general classes for a cheap price and than transfer to UIC. Is that easy or possible?

Thanks

I'm going to be going to college in less than a year and am trying to find possible majors. I am really good in math and sciences and I have a big interest in helping others in third world countries. Do you know of any majors or careers that could be possible? If so do most schools offer them? If not what would be a good school to go to?

I'm from the midwest but am willing to go anywhere in the US for school.

I think so.

Affirmative action is just a lowering of standards to allow substandard people into positions that they have no business being in, just for the sake of "diversity".

Multiculturism, Political Correctness, Affirmative Action and Diversity programs are all destroying America.

We got received our class ranks today and I am 20 out of 284. Is this good? I want to hopefully go to Loyola or even possibly Harvard, does my class rank permit this? I am also in the top 10% and possibly even top 5%. Is this also good? Could I have a clear shot into one of those colleges with this rank?

I'm trying to figure out how my credits will transfer, and I'm not really sure what the difference between academic electives and just electives is. This is what the requirements are for one year at the college I'm transferring the credits to:
Senior Year

Major Performance Study 12
Managing a Professional Carreer 2
Ryhthm and Eurythmics 2
Introduction to Alexander Technique 2
Classical Guitar Pedagogy 6
Classical Guitar Ensemble 3
Choral Ensemble 3
Music and the Humanities 3
Academic electives 12
Electives (any area) 6
TOTAL 51
Can electives be from any area whereas academic electives have to be related to your major's area? I have no idea, sp please be as specific as possible.

I applied for an MA near where I live in the UK and I was given an unconditional offer. I accepted but now the course has been cancelled!

It's too late now to complete an application for another university and get funding in time (the deadline for funding forms for one of my options was this weekend! Typical). I turned down an offer from another university because I thought an unconditional offer was safe.

When you accept an unconditional offer, isn't the university then under obligation to provide that course?
