I'm in college at 39.
Different situation for me (2nd masters, part time, fully employed) - but hey, I'm still a college student.
It's never too late.

You won't be the oldest student at college by any means. At 55 I just finished last June, and I wasn't the oldest either. Lots of students do other things before beginning college. For women, they often raise their families and start college after the youngest one has finished college. Men also come later for many reasons. Some find the job they want the most late in life. Others become disabled from one job, and go back to college to find another. There are as many reasons as there are people.
I found that even the youngest college students accepted me. I was a fellow student, an equal. My age vanished into the background because I was struggling to learn just like they were.
As for your felony, the catalogs for colleges are usually online, and if any majors reject a student with convictions, they will say. In case the college of your choice does not, be sure to ask the transfer counselor. They know a lot about that. Acedemic counselors for each major will also know about that.

26 isn't too old! I have plenty of 30+ in my classes.
As far as the felony, there will be majors that aren't a good idea to apply to like criminal justice, political science might be a potential problem also. Finance or business might not be a good major either dealing with money. Law school is probably out of the question.
Don't be discouraged because of your age/felony, there are plenty of careers you can still pursue. Apply to a college and then if you need to talk to an admissions counselor about what major might be best for you.

well i'm 19 and didn't complete high school. So i gotta go to a further education college get my a levels and then uni. I'll be 21, a mature student by british standards. And my fears are the same as yours. But it isn't gonna stop me. In such cases you have to think of whats best of you, what'll achieve. Age is just a number. Think of all the positives it'll bring to your future. Late is better than never. And past is past. Don't let it get you down.

Never too old to study and don't worry about the felony there is some definite fields of study that would be an advantage in helping other youth in welfare, community development, etc. Its all about helping other people and people should not judge you on a crime you commited and already paid for. In the Bible it says do not judge others unless we want to be judged too and nobody is perfect.

Actually the average college age of students in college now is 20-34. You can always better yourself with college. Don't worry about your felony, as long as you work hard to better yourself and demonstrate that you can be trusted, you should be fine.

Getting a degree can overshadow your past. being 18, adults know that we make dumb mistakes.
It is not too late to start school. I graduated with a 65 year old man who has 6 kids. his grade point average was a 4.0 and mines was a 3.5. I am younger than him and his grades were BETTER than mines! Did you hear me! i graduated from a community college at 23. Older people are in school now. 20s, 30s, and up to the 60 year olds are in school now. My sister is 28 years old and she graduated last year with a B.A in Sociology. and she is going to grad school at the age of 29. she will get out in her 30s because she will be going to college part-time. TAlk to the admissions counselor about your situation. They have a lot of resources. you can get help. good luck. oh remember, judge mathis from t.v. was a gang member with no family who went to college and he paid with loans. One last thing you can major is sociology, social work, i think physical education. you are a good example of someone changing their life around. you are a success story.
good luck and god bless

Look, people start college at ANY age. You, my dear, are no where near being too old for anything. I WISH I were 26 again....I would do a whole lot of things differently. Go for it! Don't let ANYBODY tell you that you're too old or that you've waited too long or any of that garbage.......you are actually the best age...you WANT to be there...you will pay attention...you will take better notes...you will study.....you will ENJOY what your are learning! DO IT!!!! More power to you!!!

One is never too old to further their education. There are people in their 40's 50's and 60's attending colleges to better themselves. Pay attention to what is ahead in your future, not the past. Go for it...I assure you, you will have no regrets doing so. You may even thank me later.
