I'm trying to decide if I should take the time and money to go get my masters? I just finished my undergraduate and am contemplating continuing my education.

If you go for a science field, no. One of my friends has a BS in biology and works in a lab. She makes the same as those with MS degrees in biology who work in the same lab. You need to go for the PhD in science fields.

Humanities, English, Business, etc...absolutely! I just would tell you to go for the PhD if you are interested in a science field, rather than the Masters.

getting a Masters degree is almost always worth it, however, that also depends on your degree. If your major was engineering for example, it's likely not worth the time & energy because you usually a Bachelors in engineering suffices. In other disciplines such as Medicine, Law etc. it's basically a must. Then there's in between disciplines like Psychology, history, education etc. that would earn you higher paying jobs with a Masters but not necessarily an astronomically larger amount of money as compared to having just your bachelors.

I would recommend it but it depends on your field and how much money you wish to invest.

It depends upon the discipline. In some fields, the masters is a terminal degree, and you can get better jobs with the masters than you can with the bachelor's degree. In others, you may have trouble getting a job with any degree other than the doctorate, so the master's may be a waste of time.

These people are crazy!

Of course it is worth getting your masters. Think about it, more and more people are graduating with Bachelors degrees than ever before.

Set yourself apart from the crowd.
