I'm currently a freshman, BioSci major at UCI and I know I want to go into the field of Pharmacy. At one of the Pharmacy Club meetings I attended, the speakers mentioned something about Pharmacy Schools looking favorably on non-science based majors (English, History, Economics, etc) when accepting applicants. I was wondering if changing my major to something like English and still completing all of the necessary pre-pharmacy courses would prove to be a good move, or should I just stick with my BioSci Major?

Do what gets you the highest grades. English is one of the few humanities majors at UCI that's pretty hard.

I don't know about pharm schools looking favorably on non-science majors. You just stand out more. Since pharm school is so competitive, some kids do that b/c they're looking for whatever advantage they can get. However, I also know UCI makes it really hard for you to take all the necessary science courses if you're not a science major. If you switch, unless you've completed them all already, you may have to do them at a JC. And it's REALLY hard getting all of them at local JC's as well.

Dang....things sure changed since I went to Pharmacy School. There were so many science courses to cover that I cant see how you could do a different type of major while completing your prerequisites unless youre a smarty pants and youre whipping out 20 units a semester. I just remember....you guys are on quarters....same difference. Best of luck.

Pharmacy schools focus more on your grades on the prereq courses than anything else. They don't give non-science majors preference over everyone else.
You have to keep plan B in the background, in case you don't get in. Your Plan B is your bachelors.
