I'll be graduating from high school in 2 months. I live in Missouri and I want to move to California to go to college there. St. Louis doesn't have many colleges/universities that provide Fashion Merchandising but out-of-town colleges do. But I WANT to go to California and attend a community college instead (because of my grades) and stay there for a year so I can get in-state residence tuition for a university when I transfer. After that I might want to go FIDM (a fashion school) which is located in California. But my mom is a foreign asian woman, so with that being said....you should automatically assume that she doesn't know how to speak english well.....she doesn't know how to read or write in english...and I'm needed for EVERYTHING. If I leave, I'll be worried about her. My parents are seperated so it's only me and her and my mother has NO family members in the United States at all. I think going to California would help better my life, but I don't know what to do with my mom.

Do people generally pass it the first time? Is it really hard. Are the books tailored to prepare you for the MCAT usefull?

Hi--I'm a senior in high school getting ready for college. I've been rejected by the Ivies I've applied to so far (Cornell, Yale, Harvard). It's just that for my dream--which is to become a dermatologist, these schools have top notch medical schools. It's just a dream, but I really want to get into one of these schools. I don't know what I don't have that my friends do. I'm half Japanese and half white, and I speak Japanese fluently. I got a solid 1800 on the new SAT and okay scores on the SAT II's (600's and a 750 on the Japanese) and a 27 Composite on the ACT. I've taken 5 AP's and gotten 4's on two of them (3 I have to take in May this year) and my GPA is a 3.8. Extracirriculars: Literary Magazine, Newspaper articles, Japanese tutoring, volunteering at a hospital, and a job in sophomore year. Do you think there is something I should work on so that I can successfully transfer into these schools later on in college? Thank

I’ve seen this title crop up before; I know of a Doctor in law at my university who is a 'reader in law' and wondered what differentiates him from the other lecturers?

If you have an undergrad degree (BBA) from Ross B-school (Univ of Mich), how does that impact your chances of getting accepted? I've heard rumors they don't want alumni back....WHY NOT???

Well, I'm a senior in high school this year, and I was wondering if guys (in general) mature more in college than in high school.

I had wondered, and hoped, that guys would mature from junior high to high school, but I don't think it has happened to the guys in my class.

My sister and brother (whom are both older than myself) have reassured me that guys usually tend to mature, and become less "stupid" when they hit college.

I'm NOT trying to diss guys. It's just that in general, and especially where I live, guys here tend to be...well, immature, to say the least.

What are your opinions/thoughts on this?

I had a state math olympiad rank (rank 15) while in high school. I was the secreatary of Association of EE engineers in my college). Please evaluate my chances.

I emailed the graduate counselor asking when I can expect to hear a reply, and she asked me if I have been accepted elsewhere....I said yes and she stated she is making a list of applicants with a deadline..........What does this mean?????
As far as my admissions chances goes what exactly does this mean if anything?

It sounds silly when you read it to yourself, but this does not mean it may not still be true. I am a current college student and I want to know could this happen or if there are laws against this in some way. For those of you still not following me just yet, allow me to clarify with an example. Suppose I have (Oh… I do not know) an English paper due. I write the paper with no outside sources and just my own information/input. Then a couple weeks later I have another assignment due on a similar topic my English paper was done on earlier. If I use similar wording, or take a *exact* sentence from my earlier paper (which this what plagiarism is all about), is that illegal to do?

I would think not since I am not taking someone else’s work and claiming it as my own – but I am taking my own work and just reclaiming it, I suppose. There is no rule against that is there?
