IF your potential employer requires an Ivy League Degree and IF you can afford it and IF you are located close enough to one, and IF you can get in, go Ivy League.

Otherwise, an MBA will increase your career earnings and open up advancement opportunities.

Whether to take it or not depends on your preference. Online courses take more discipline to self start on assignments. It's a matter of whether you can prefer/need to have a live instructor or can read / comprehend independently and contact an instructor when questions come up. Another nice thing is you can interact with people all over the country.

Nope -- not worth it, because none of them are good -- and (more importantly) none are selective.

I would not advise getting an MBA unless you go to a ranked school. Going to a top 15 program will allow you to change fields and give you several six figure offers.

Going to a ranked school that is not in the top 15 will increase your salary and help you get a good job. The higher the ranking, the more you are likely to make when you get out.

Getting an MBA from a school that is not ranked will help you get ahead in your current company. However, it will do little to improve your salary if you go elsewhere and will probably not help you to get a good job.

Getting an MBA from an online school will not only not help you make more money or help you get a good job -- it may actually hurt your chances. Many employers will just throw away your resume if they see that you have an online degree.

I don't really think it's worth it because employers will generally select a candidate from a known institution over something online. You can also look at your state schools business program to see if they have a distance learning program where you can take the same courses through their website. Then you would have an MBA from say Penn State, or University of Miami, ect.

If you're dead set on an online school only, I would go with university of phoenix online because its one of the more well known now.

Hi,

I just asked a similar question about what employers really feel about online degrees. It seems that they realistically may look past you if your degree was earned online. Some will not even consider you. So I guess that answered my question, and maybe yours, too. I think we better stick to traditional degrees and not risk our valuable years, money, & energy if we can help it.

I took some online classes at my college, though, and found it really gave me more control over my time. However, it seems that they purposely gave us a much heavier load.
