Does it have international recognition? Is it on par with the ivies or atleast with Duke, Stanford and MIT?

The Ivies aren't the end all and be all of prestigious colleges. Stanford's currently ranked higher than all but 3 of them. Duke and MIT are ranked higher than all but 4 of them.

Vandy is well respected. Unfortunately, if talking international, then no, it doesn't quite have the international rep that the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, and MIT do. Doesn't have a US rep that those schools do either, for some strange reason. Those that know schools know it's a very prestigious place. However, the average Joe on the street wouldn't know.

It depends on the program, but in general, it is one of the best universities in the South (I wouldn't put it on a par with Stanford and MIT, but possibly Duke).

It is certainly known as being a fine school, but it's reputation is indeed most strong in the South. I doubt it has much international recognition.
