Is it easy to transfer from a community college to UIC? Do they reject a lot of people from community college? I'm from Los angeles and I really want to go to UIC, however I want to go to a community college first at IL to get rid of the general classes for a cheap price and than transfer to UIC. Is that easy or possible?

Thanks

From what I here, UIC tends to be more flexible with transfers. Keep your GPA at a 3.0, and you'll probably be ok. Average sophomore GPA at UIC is about a 2.8-2.9.
Try and become an Illinois resident before transfering to UIC. The University of IL system has a policy of socking out of state students.
UIC uses semesters. The school hasn't used quarters since the early 90s.

Hmm. I do not now what academic periods UIC uses, but I go to Depaul that offers quarters, including summers. It is your decision, but I would say if you want to graduate sooner and UIC uses quarter system, then I would recommend to start freshman year there. Community colleges may offer quarter system too. And many universities in Chicago have agreements with local community colleges on transfer credits.

It depends on your program of study. For medical, I heard that it is pretty competitive. But dont get discouraged work hard and anything will be possible :). Good Luck!
