Is Affirmative Action destroying America?

I think so.

Affirmative action is just a lowering of standards to allow substandard people into positions that they have no business being in, just for the sake of "diversity".

Multiculturism, Political Correctness, Affirmative Action and Diversity programs are all destroying America.

Most colleges and universities largest affirmative action program is for men. If they had gender blind admittance standards their student bodies would be over 60% women because women have better grades and test scores. There would also be more Asians admitted if not for the preference given to Non Asians. It is surprising how much white males whine about being the victims of diversity programs when they are actually the beneficiaries. They are too busy listening to the messages of victimization to notice what is happening right in front of them .

There are times when Affirmative Action can hurt a company but overall, it allows inclusion and qualified diverse individuals. To say that a minority that is employed has no qualification other than being a minority is a little shortsighted. What about women, or gays or handicapped people who might even be more qualified than yourself? Without Affirmative Action, these groups might be forced out and held back to society. You have to look at the big picture and not the obvious race issue.

I've never seen Affirmative Action put to work in any of the positions I've held, or universities I've been to.

If you don't like diversity that's fine, you can segregate yourself. If you don't like multiculturalism, then write your political leaders and tell them to stop reinforcing it in the schools. Political Correctness, that's totally up to you, from what you posted here you don't care about political correctness, so just be tactless and insult people at random, you'll make a lot of friends that way. My motto is; "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

In my opinion as a Black man, affirmative acion is wrong in two ways:

1) Affirmative action basically tells me and other people of color that we are too stupid to get into college on our own accord, so we need to set aside places for you. It's white supremacy with a smile!

2) There are better ways to achieve diversity. One way would be to get rid of preferences for the children of alumni, who are overwhelmingly white, and often wealthy. Another way would be preparing students in all neighborhoods from kindergarten to learn the skills they need to make it in the real world. Much of the reason why affirmative action is necessary in the first place is that schools in Black and Latino neighborhoods are grossly underfunded.

Affirmative Action and set a sides have created racists where none existed before. Besides destroying business and government standards it promotes racial and sexual bias. The slogan of civil service was that only the best shall serve, now it is they will serve in proportion to their population.
