Is it true you can not go to college if you did not take
a foreign language in high school. What if you went to
a private school that did not offer foreign languages?
Does that mean no college?

I want to major in a language that I already speak (which is not English). However, I'm a citizen of that country, and lived there until I came to the US when I was around 10. I speak that language pretty fluently, as well as English. However, I want to be a translator of that language and English. I thought it would be better if I had a major in the language that I speak, even though I speak it already, because I thought it would look better when I'm getting the job, to let the employer know that I really know my language.

However, is it really worth it to major in the language you already speak? I thought it would be, because Americans major in English. But people disagree that it's a waste of time if I major in the language I already speak. Should I maybe double major in my language and English? Or should I major in English, then minor in the other? Would it be better if I not major/minor in my language at all since I can write, read, etc?

Please give me your thoughts!

Will UPENN use my midyear report and interview to weigh my chance against another kid's report and interview? I really hope that i get into UPENN.

One girl in my school got in and the other got rejected (early decision).

Is it true that admission acceptance rate was 25%, but now it is 17%.

By the way, i increased my ranking from #31 to #20 (I moved up 11 spaces), my GPA increased, and the interviewer really liked me (she said straight out that she would highly recommend me). However, i have low SAT scores. My highest in SAT I is a 1820, and my SAT II scores are within the 660-690s. My major is bio basis of behavior, and i got a 4 in AP BIO and a 5 in AP PSYCH.

Hopefully, if everything is alright, I will start college from Sept 2007. I'll be taking full time courses and at the same time doing full time work (40 hours/week as a shift manager). I am wondering whether I can handle this. Studies is my 1st preference. Should I cut down my work hours or I can do it? What do you think if you were in my situation? I am a business student and going to go to a cuny college.

I am a junior and I want to become a History teacher (high school). What colleges are supposed to have good history programs? Also, my GPA is about 3.6, so Ivy schools are pretty much out of the question.
Thanks for the help!

Im an Ontario highschool student seeking to go to Med school sometime, and i heard that Mcgill had a MED-P program which is a pre-med program for highshcool students. unfortunately, it is only for quebec residents and i am an ontario resident.

Are there any canadian or u.s. universities that provide pre-med programs for highschool students to apply directly because i woudl like to guarantee myself entering into a med program asap instead of taking sciences for 3-4 years and applying then.

Thanks for all the info.

Hello I am planning to get the higher education in computer field. I was planning to go to a 2 year college right after graduation so it’s easier for me to transfer. What do you think would be easier for me as a senior who is going to graduate from high school ? Would it be better for me to immediately go to a 4 year college or start at 2 year college for a start so it’s easier for me?

Ok, couple questions:

1) I've applied to 8 grad schools (for science programs that do require interviews as part of admissions-you have to let most know if you are attending by 4/15) and have heard back from 5 so far. At 4 of those, I've set up interviews and gone to all but 1 that I have in March. At one of those 5 (Vanderbilt), I had a faculty member, a departmental secretary, and some admissions person all e-mail me saying "when the admissions committee contacts me" to set up an interview--that was at the end of January. So far, I have not heard from the VU admissions committee. They all said they said I am an extremely strong candidate and urged me to consider Vanderbilt, but it's March, and I haven't heard from them since. I e-mailed one of those people back and haven't heard anything, so I don't know what I should do. Should I just leave it alone?

2) For science grad programs that require interviews, when is the latest they would want to do them?

Thanks!

I live in northern Utah and I have been motivated to choose computer science as my major & top sites nominate it for the most rewarding career if one obtains a bachelor's degree. As I have searched Yahoo Answers, I've noticed that this is not the case at all. Indians and Chinese folks will take the jobs for less than minimum wage? CS majors end up unemployed?

What majors would you suggest where I don't have to compete with other graduates for jobs in? I want a good starting salary(@ least 45K), and I'm willing to get a Bachelor's degree.

I already have an associate's in pre-health of science... anything I can do with this.

Please help, I'm desperate & I've searched career & college sites all day long, but none of their statistics seem to be true with what real graduates say on Yahoo Answers.
