Pick any medical school and then see their requirements for admissions. They're very similar.

Basically, you have to get a bachelors degree first. Any major will do. You just have to make sure you fulfill all the prerequisite courses that each med school requires. Then, you also take the MCAT test which is the admissions test for med school.

Med school is another 4 years. After that, you match up for your residency. That's when you train for the specific kind of doctor. Don't worry about that for now.

Ignore the idiots who say "do a pre-med major". There's no such thing. You'll kill yourself looking for it. There are pre-med programs, but that's more of a counseling and advising thing a school offers. Keeps you on track to help make sure you do everything a med school wants. You still have to pick a major because there's no such thing as a "pre-med major." If your college doesn't have one, don't sweat. If your school does, then great. Consider applying for it.

Here's a link to Stanford's medical school's admissions requirements page:

Gives you an idea. It's on the skimpy side. I prolly shoulda picked another school, but you get the idea.

What college you go to for undergrad doesn't matter too much, just remember that the higher ranked it is, the more impressive you look compared to someone with an identical GPA from a lower ranked school.

That's the rankings that most people use. You can look up which undergrads are the best as well as med schools.

You have to have a college degree first, -"pre-med" is what they call it- the most common are sciences (biology, psych, nursing, medical technology, etc) but any college degree will do as long as you took the required courses/subjects and units.
