What's the life like in College?

The transition from high school to college was not an easy transition for me. It can be a hard experience since you are away from your parents more often than you are used to. College life can also be a rewarding experience because you become more independent and control your own destiny. Some students think it is so great to come to college because it gets them away from their parents and they can do whatever they want. Sometimes the celebrations get too crazy and the students get really drunk and pass out. And then next week they do it again. It can be an endless cycle. Roommates can vary from being bookworms to party animals. I have experienced both. The meals on campus cost more than at a typical grocery store, so you will have to get used to that. Midterms and finals are the worst part of college because they make you work too hard. If you have student loans, don't get too used to them, because at the end of your college life, you will have to eventually pay it back. And then comes life in the real world.

College is whatever you make of it. There's a lot more freedom, due to parents not being around, and this obviously leads to less than genius decisions being made, but that's life. You'll typically find people getting drunk or stoned all the time, usually students who are getting their tuition paid by their parents (those paying for college themselves do this to, but show more self-control since they feel the investment more). It's fairly easy to make friends, but it's also easy to sit in your room and not hang out with anyone, I know people who have done both. Essentially, you're never being told what to do, which is why college is great at figuring out how you want to live your life.

Rent all the college movies you can. Real college is like them, but about 5 times less interesting.
