Hi all! Serious comments from adults over 25 years of age please. I am a stay at home mom, my kids are 10 and 6 1/2 years old and go to school full time. I am working at the kids school as a lunch room supervisor and working at the local community cnetre teaching kindergym classes. I have been accepted to college to study to become an Educational Assistant and start January 12th. i work about 10 hours a week and my husband is Rudely asking me to get a "real job". We are struggling financially, but the EA job would pay $22.13 per hour once done. Am I being selfish by wanting to go to school or should I give up my dream and work at a Tim Horton's donut type job that I hate for the rest of my life?

I'm an english major.

I'd like to befriend my professors this term so I can get get a job as an RA, get recommendation letters from them eventually, and simply get to know them.

How best do I approach a professor? At exactly what point in the semester is it best to make my first visit? How many visits are too many?

I think it's a little futile to ask only about a specific assignment - I want my professors to know I'm resourceful and can get help on my own. But I often don't know what to talk about with them.

Is it best to behave professionally, as though I'm attending an interview? Or do professors prefer students to be informal?

Also, how much time is appropriate to spend in a professor's office? I've heard of some students spending close to two hours talking to their professors.

How do I approach them about their OWN research? If I researched them ahead of time, is it creepy to let them know that? Finally, what does it take to get hired as an RA or a TA?

Thank you!

Okay, so to put it simply. I'm starting college in my home town next fall. I've lived in the desert pretty much my whole life but I want to major in marine biology. Obviously that isn't offered here, so I'm looking to take my basics and then move to finish school. I'd like to attend a college in CA but I have no idea who offers what. Any advice would be great, but if someone who has a similar degree could help I'd really appreciate it.

[ With the development of society, there become more and moreeducation chances for women which facilitate them to find a very good job.
However, when woman earns more than her husband, life would turn out to be really complecated. Because of this, countless couples divorced in recent years. As for man, he would feel lose face when his wife earns more than him, and this would bring him great pressure from both outside and himself. As a result, it always ends up as an explosion when the pressure accumulate into certain limit.
In my opinion, it's very common that woman earns more than her husband, the key point is to keep a positive attitude and deal with the matter properly, which would ensure a harmonious perfect life. ]

Thanks a lot!

Can anyone offer advice? I never graduated High School but I do have my GED and life experience as a Paramedic and in Information Technology. I have had the desire to go back to school for years but I never knew how to go about it. I would love to study medicine or something around those lines. Unfortunately I am also disabled due to nerve damage and Rheumatoid Arthritis and on social security disability but I really want to get off of it and try and make something out of what's left of my life.

I am thinking about being a pharmacist. What courses in college do I need to take? I heard that I can just go to college for 2 years and then go straight to a pharmacy school, is this true? So all I need is an associate's degree? Can someone clear this confusion? Do I only need to go 2 years of college then 4 years in a graduate school?
