you have to be one of the smartest out there for a start. I think most of the astronauts of connections along with astronomical intellect and the avg. person finds it hard to pursue that kind of career. Remember, these people are working for the government of the U.S. and those positions are extremely selective.

To become an astronaut you have to take aeronautical/aerospace engineering. Well thats the start. All the best!!
