Can anyone offer advice? I never graduated High School but I do have my GED and life experience as a Paramedic and in Information Technology. I have had the desire to go back to school for years but I never knew how to go about it. I would love to study medicine or something around those lines. Unfortunately I am also disabled due to nerve damage and Rheumatoid Arthritis and on social security disability but I really want to get off of it and try and make something out of what's left of my life.

I apologize but I forgot to mention that my paramedic course was a non-credit certificate course taken a local hospital.

I just want to encourage you to do it. I went back to school when I was 28. I loved it. It was one of the most enriching and enjoyable experiences of my life. You won't regret it.

Just call or visit the admissions office of the college you want to attend and take it from there.

First off, I'm curious to how you have "life experience" as a paramedic. You have to go to school for that. But anyway, just apply to a community college. You can't go to a regular 4 year university with a GED...however, you can then transfer after 2 years. Talk with guidance counselors and they can help you find the right path. There are tests you can take which will let you know where your interests are and what type of career will be good for you.

Go to a community college and talk to an admissions adviser. Nowadays you have to know what job you are going to apply for after school, or else it is a waste of time and money.

what do you want to do? how about speaking to an admissions advisor at your local college? they will be able to help you decide and tell you everything you need to know to get admitted and start up again! also, if you have a disability they will be able to arrange to have someone in your class to help you or for you to be able to have special tools to help you. good luck!

Go to the websites of the colleges that interest you. Ask them to send you a course catalogue.
