I need to get recommendations from my professors for graduate school but only have one professor that I have had more than one class with. Admission to the grad program is more dependant on your fit with the faculty and their research areas then your grades or GRE score. Recommendations are very important and I have a 4.0 gpa, but how do I solicit one from a professor I have only had one class with? Can I approach a professor I have never had a class with but my interest is in his field of study and I would love wo work with him as a grad student. (He only teaches graduate level courses , which is why I have not had a class with him yet).

i am going to be done with undergrad soon, and then i will apply for medical school in june 2007. it takes one year to complete the application process, and i need to do something in that year. Medical schools look to see if you are passionate about what you are doing, and what you are gaining from it. I am very interested in community service, like Americorps. But i am more very interested in arts like photography and martial arts, two things which i would love to be devoted for one year to. But i feel as if something like Americorps would be better for my medical school applications.

Does anyone have any ideas on what i would do, or how i should decide what to do during my year off?

I was accepted for Gradschool, and starting my Masters in Information Technology on Jan 8, and im a bit worried. I found out that I have to maintain a 3.0 GPA every semester and an overall GPA of 3.5 to stick in the program. Im taking 8 credits, this semester thats two courses. I was going for 12 credits initially. I generally do well on IT courses, but still im worried at the high standards. Undergrad was shitty, i did OK but I could have done better. So my question, what should I expect on the grad program? is it going to be back breaking study times? Also Im 23, and im not working full time. Im concerened on interact with older people, as im thinking some of them might have families and more mature. I feel like im a little bit immature and might stick out. I love participating in class, but i dont know if I should filter all my answers to make it sound "professional." Undergrad was real easy for me, i mean I felt like i didnt really do much to get a good grade.

The school I went to is a notable state university, and they have the degree program that I would like to pursue. I left there on a good note, so getting back in shouldn't be a problem. But I generally see people getting their master degrees at different institutions from their bachelor degrees.

While I'm not old enough to actually start applying for colleges yet, I'm starting to think about where I want to go. I want to know if there are any online tools to match people to colleges (like a quiz kind of thing). I know a few were invented, but does anyone know where I can find one? Until I hear otherwise, my top choices are UCLA and NYU.

Hello, I am applying for graduate study to 2 schools. One of them ask me to provide a statment of research interest and the other want me to hand in a statement of purpose. However, i really have no ideas about how to write them. May I ask someone who had experiences or people who know how to do it to give me some ideas about writing it. Thank you very much.
By the way, I m applying for graduate study of criminology

I'm a Senior in high school, and I'm looking at colleges and majors and such...but I'm having a hard time deciding between if I should go for Chemical Engineering, or go for English/Library Science. In the area I live in there's a high demand for Chemical Engineers, but are there any of those out there who can tell me what their job is like? I'm trying to just gather my thoughts together, and any help would be awesome. Thanks!
