How did you decide to become a pharmacist? What made you come to this conclusion? Was it an event or a teacher or something? Also, are there other jobs for pharmacists besides working in retail? I'm interested.. but I dont want to just dispense the medicine. I want to be more active and feel like I REALLY made a difference! Please help! I'm a senior going to college next year, and I really want to make sure that pharmacy is something I really want to do before I make the committment to go to a school with a pharmacy program! THANKS!!!

This is for current University Park students. I'm currently a sophomore at a Penn State satellite campus getting ready to go up to main in the fall. I just wanted to know if I should get a dorm or apartment. I also would like to know the pros and cons of both apartment and dorm life. My friends have told me that I haven’t experienced college life until I stay in a dorm.

I am trying to register for the SATs and I wanted to take it on march 10th but it says that only the SAT reasoning test, is this what I want, is it what colleges are looking for?

Also, I am trying to figure out this whole top 10% thing. In texas all students in the top 10% are gaurenteed acceptance to public colleges, I number 66 out of 632 which puts me in the 10.4%, does this count?

Also what are colleges looking for, I have been comited to my dance team for the past 3 years, I am in NHS and Mu Alpha Theta, I also volenteer for different organizations, such as LifeSkills, I have a 4.676 on the 5.0 scale, I will have taken 5-6 AP classes when I graduate. What are my chances of getting into UT?

Sorry this was so long, Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it!

I will have about 58 credits (16 courses) worth of 400/500 level courses on my undergraduate trascript when I graduate. These are considered "upper division classes" and the 500 level courses are courses open to both undergrads and grad students. The lowest grade I've gotten in a 400/500 level course was a B. Do you think grad school's will like that I've taken so many upper-division classes, some of which were graduate classes, or does that not really matter?

Hey, i'm a junior in highschool, and i'm beg. to really narrow down where i want to go to school. ideally, i want to go to an ivy league school, but let me explain my situation first. freshmen year, my gpa was 3.6, soph year i had 4.02, and than i guess b4 my junior year i had something of an academic theophany, and i have a 4.75 so far, now based on those, do you think i'd be able to get into any ivy schools? and if so, which? be honest. i go to a catholic boys school, and i'm in 5 out of 7 honors classes, and will take 4 AP next year. I'm predicting, realistically, atleast a 2000 on the sats, plus an act/sat subject tests, thanks everyone. be honest please.

I don't one of those "It costs a lot of money" answers, because I already know that.

I feel like such a failure. This is my junior year in highschool and I decided to be in 3 ap classes (Bio, English, and U.S. HIstory). Aswell as participate in Drama, Dance, Marching Band, and winterguard and work a part time job(16 hours a week). I started off okay. However finals last week totally drained me out. I ended up getting a A in Bio and English. However I became in total shock when my history grade went to a D+. I consulted my teacher and he said that the final was worth 70% of the grade. The thing I don't understand is how my solid C (75%) went down to a 67% by getting a C (77%) on the final. Does this one D+ mean I won't get into UCs? I had dream of going pre-med but I fear biting off more than I can chew has ruined my life.

Is it common for someone with a PhD get hired at a community college? The reason I ask is I'm interested in pursuing a PhD, but I'm not interested in the pressures of finding a good tenure position at a university, and all the hard work that is accompanied with being a full-time professor. I don't really care about money either. I've heard there are a lot more opportunities in the community-college level. Any suggestions or comments?
