Hey, i'm a junior in highschool, and i'm beg. to really narrow down where i want to go to school. ideally, i want to go to an ivy league school, but let me explain my situation first. freshmen year, my gpa was 3.6, soph year i had 4.02, and than i guess b4 my junior year i had something of an academic theophany, and i have a 4.75 so far, now based on those, do you think i'd be able to get into any ivy schools? and if so, which? be honest. i go to a catholic boys school, and i'm in 5 out of 7 honors classes, and will take 4 AP next year. I'm predicting, realistically, atleast a 2000 on the sats, plus an act/sat subject tests, thanks everyone. be honest please.

As has probably been said before here, part of getting into an Ivy League school is luck. Those schools get applicants who scored 100% on the SAT. You will need some unique activities in school and possibly as a community volunteer. Another thing that sometimes plays a part is where you are. If Harvard is looking for someone from North Podunk to balance all the kids from Westchester (NY) and you live in North Podunk you might be in luck. If, on the other hand, you live in an area where "all the children are above average" and all apply to Harvard, you are going to have to really shine. You don't have a parent, uncle or aunt that went to an Ivy League school do you? That might help (if they gave money).

I think you need more than just SAT scores and a high GPA. Tens of thousands of kids with those attributes apply to ivy league schools every day and only 10% of them are admitted. You need a special skill or hobby that suggests that you are well-rounded and will bring more to the campus other than scholastics. My husband went to Harvard and he was #1 at his private high school academically, was captain of his varsity soccer team and track team, National Honors Society, volunteer work, etc. He also won a bunch of science and math merit awards. His classmates included Natalie Portman (who is intelligent and successful), a famous broadway singer, people that had traveled to Africa to help AIDS orphans, people that had traveled to Mongolia to work at a soup kitchen, equestrian champions, etc. The point is that you have to diversify yourself and show that you can do much more than study hard and get good grades. I don't want to discourage you, but since you only mentioned scholastics among your merits I think you need to pick up a few hobbies.

you have an upward trend which is good. i got into stanford with a significantly higher avge than yours so I can't say.
try a canadian ivy (Queen's university or mcgill university)
My recomendation is Queen's university.. the avge student has an average of 89% plus...
Queen's also has the highest endowment per capita in canada..

listen man, I know what you're going through. I am a high school senior who was just accepted into Cornell University.
I just have to say believe in yourself, have killer recommendations and essays and resume..., and things should work out ok.
Oh, I almost forgot, go Cornell!!
