I feel like such a failure. This is my junior year in highschool and I decided to be in 3 ap classes (Bio, English, and U.S. HIstory). Aswell as participate in Drama, Dance, Marching Band, and winterguard and work a part time job(16 hours a week). I started off okay. However finals last week totally drained me out. I ended up getting a A in Bio and English. However I became in total shock when my history grade went to a D+. I consulted my teacher and he said that the final was worth 70% of the grade. The thing I don't understand is how my solid C (75%) went down to a 67% by getting a C (77%) on the final. Does this one D+ mean I won't get into UCs? I had dream of going pre-med but I fear biting off more than I can chew has ruined my life.

As the previous poster said, you can probably retake that class. You still have a pretty good chance at getting into the mid and lower level UCs (Irvine, Davis, maybe San Diego...). Don't worry about pre-med yet: getting into med school depends on your college performance. They're not gonna care about what you did in high school.

First off, ask your teacher to explain how your grade got so low. Maybe they made a math error. That's priority. It doesn't make sense.

Secondly, med schools don't ask what your high school transcript was.

Thirdly, a D+ isn't going to end your UC career. What's your SAT score? Provided the rest of your grades look good and your SAT scores are good, you can still make it into a pretty good UC. Because of my SAT score, I made it to UCI. Let's just say my GPA was pretty far below the "average" GPA UCI reported (altho it was still above 3.0).

You can take first semester of your AP history class again for a chance of getting a better grade. If you do retake and receive a higher grader, they will use your higher grade and the D+ will be replace. You should go talk to your counselor.
