Your major will be nursing. You will take science courses - anatomy & physiology, chemistry (in some colleges, you may be able to substitute an outstanding grade in h.s. chemistry) - in addition to general education courses such as English, mathematics (or the h.s. equivalent), and history for an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, but over half your courses will be in nursing. This degree will qualify you to take your Nursing State Board Examination which leads to the R.N. designation.
For the bachelor of science degree, you will take many more general education courses in addition to more nursing courses for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Nurses with the B.S. degree usually earn more money and are given greater management responsibilities than those with the A.S. degree.
Nurses learn a lot on the job and usually find that they like one type of nursing better than others. After you have a B.S. degree, you may go on for a master's degree if you wish and do more specialization.
The exact requirements for these degrees will vary from college to college but your major will always be nursing.
Good luck in your chosen profession!

As the other answer says, your major will be nursing, but there are many different fields to go into even in nursing.
You can even get certified in things like Medication Aide and CNA with your nursing credits so you can work and get experience with patients. If you do that, it will be easier for you to start out at a higher wage when you get your LVN or RN.
Good Luck!
