Anyone know of any nice, reasonably priced, reservation needed (i hate waiting for a table on a friday) italian restaurants in calgary?

I'm thinking either Gnocchi's (not sure if they take reservations), or Il Sogno. I'm trying to find something like the Olive Garden (but they don't take reservations on Friday and Saturday nights).

a) walk right into a restaraunt and be seated immediately. someone takes your order right away and you get your food in a few minutes. little or no service. waiter isnt gonna be nice to you and tell him/her what his/her name is and ask how you are. you pay in the front at the cash register. approx time in restaraunt: 30 min

or

b) wait a long time to be seated. wait a long time for the person to give you the menu. wait a long time for a different person to come and take your order. wait a long time for your food. after you finish eating wait a long time for the waiter to give you your bill. then wait a long time for your waiter to come and take the bill. the service is excelllent. approx time in restaraunt: 1:00 hr to 1:30 hr

both restaraunts have the same food in taste and quality and they both have the same price. which would you rather eat at.

personally i choose a because i hate waiting to eat and to pay.

I enjoyed a great meal at a local restaurant last evening and had much positive feedback to give, but I did comment to the bar manager that the wine list would be even better if it specified the vintage of each wine. For some wines, the year can make a huge difference. I wonder if there are restaurant owners and sommeliers out there who just haven't realized that the extra effort required to update the current available vintages will pay off by adding an additional level of class and substance to their establishment.

I live in New Orleans and am looking for a nice restaurant to bring my girlfriend to. It's for her birthday so I want it to be perfect--beautiful and great-tasting. It can also be in Metairie or even the Northshore. I just need to find a place. We both love Italian, Cajun, Creole, and basically everything else LA has to offer. We love the French Quarter and recently went to Cafe Giovanni. It was FANTASTIC! However, I really want to surprise her with something new. Please help me! Thanks!

when they go to a place like Chili's or TGIF? I work at a very popular chain restaurant, and I think i'm a pretty good server. I treat everyone with respect and give them everything that I possibly can; with prompt service and a smile. But really, what gets me, are those individuals that think the place is a fancy/expensive restuarant. They get upset that bread is not served for free, or a salad is not included with a meal. They are upset that they can't make a reservation or that the music is too loud, or that the TV is tuned to a Football game. What do these people want. Am I out of line with thinking that these people just don't get it. Any other chain restuarant servers experience this?

what did it have on it? what toppings, bread, etc.
did they do anything special to it? (serve with something unusual or display it interestingly?)

It should be in the general area of 'The Strip', preferably having a wide variety of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetarian protein choices.
