Is it safe to eat out if you have a severe peanut allergy?

It would be a good idea to keep an antihistamine with you, and eat a small amount of anything that was suspicious to see if there is a reaction. Most peanut allergic people will have itching in their mouth if soy-legume is present. BTW peanut oil is OK, it's the protein that gets you.

Peanut allergy seems to be one of the worlt kinds. If it were me,
I would not chance it. There are too many ways peanuts or the
oil can be processed into various foods. I knew a person who
almost died just because the same shelling equipment that was
used to shell walnuts,,,,was used to shell the peanuts, some of
which she ate.

of course it is. when you order make sure you always ask the waiter what the ingredients are in the meal-be specific. (ie. what type of oil is used, any nuts, ect...) Also, inform the waiter about your allergy and specify how serious it is. the last thing the restaurant wants is to have you eat a nut! also, if you are eating with friends or family, ask them not to order anything with nuts as well. Be sure to do your partt too, by choosing meals you know are very unlikely to have nuts in them.

Dont let your allergy take control of your life. i know the risks are always high but you still have to live a bit. take some caution yes, but also have fun!

Probably not. You could never be sure there were not peanuts or peanut oil in someone else's food in the kitchen.

yea, but tell the server what u're allegeric too first. then ask them to suggest what would be alright for you to eat
