I purchased a SamSung DLP HLT5076S refurbished with 10,000:1 contrast ratio. As soon as I go it out of the box, I noticed the on screen menu was blurry. I have standard digital cable, and standard DVD. All exhibit slight double images, blurryness, lines and a lot of rainbow affects. Samsung technician came out and said, yup, this is what you should expect with standard digital and DVD. Said, the only way to get any quality out of the TV was to us Blue Ray or HD signals. My stand tube TV displays a picture with same signals as nice and crisp. My question is, is this what I should expect from a DLP, or do you think something is wrong with my DLP television? It the answer is yes, and given the fact that I watch standard digital and DVDs most often, then I will need to return it.

Hey guys I'm looking at a Sony Wega HDTV KV-36HS500, it says its not HD ready and it has a DVI connection in the back but no HDMI. A couple of questions,

1. I have Bright House Networks (digital cable), when I get the HD cable box, is that what I need to view HD channels?

2. Will Xbox360 run in HD without a separate box or something?

3. Can I hook up a laptop, via DVI-DVI, to the tv?

4. It doesn't have a HDMI input, is that really that bad and whats the cons of not having one?

Thanks dudes!

I am looking to buy a TV this weekend. I am not sure what type to buy since there is so much new technology available.

What is a good TV to buy for about $400 to $500?

Also, what are good stores to buy them from?

I recently bought a computer HP Media Center. I want to be able to hook this up to my plasma tv to use it as a Jukebox for all my music. The computer has a DVI monitor connector, and it also has a svideo out. I have tried to use the svideo option in the past on a plasma tv and it just comes out horrible? The audio is not a problem, just the video? I want it to look decent on the tv. My plasma has svideo & hdmi? Can I convert the hdmi to dvi ? What do you suggust?

The guy who installed our HD DVR to our hd plasma screen did so with a free HDMI cable. It's about 3x smaller in width than the HDMI I have connected to our PS3.

I've noticed that the picture gets really pixelated when the camera moves fast, or there are fast edits.

Is this because the free HDMI cable is just an exaggerated component cable? Is there a difference between HDMI's?

I was thinking of going out and getting a $60 HDMI to stop the pixelation I'm getting...do you think that would work?

I just got a new Panasonic TH-50PX75U Plasma screen tv. My HDMI cables are coming later in the week, so i hooked it up to an hdtv cable box with a coaxial cable. (Is this bad?)

For some reason, I have horizontal bars across the top and bottom of almost all channels. This means the HD channels that broadcast non-hd programming are framed in black, since they include pillar boxes on the side.

Is this because of the coaxial cable? Or is this a different problem?

It has been shutting itself off for a couple of months & when I turned it off it came right back on. Now the problem has gotten worse. Now it was shutting off every few hours & it would turn its self back on when I unplugged it & plugged it back in. Now my tv wont even come on. As soon as you turn it on it shuts itself right back off & the red light starts blinking. Please help if anyone might know what could be causing this problem. Thank You.....

I don't really know how to describe it, but it's weird. I can hear it even in the TV's all the way down and I'm in the next room. It's sort of like the noise the TV makes when you first turn it on but quieter.

I just bought an HGTV, and I want to mount it on the wall, and run the cables through the wall and across the ceiling tiles to the cable box. This will create a "clean" look when I hang the tv(no boxes) SO, I need a HDMI cable, but I don't know the difference between the expensive ones and the cheaper ones. I need at least a 30 ft cable, so do I need an "extender" PLEASE HELP!

I received this TV from a friend. She said her kids played video games on it, so that's probably why the picture is blurry. I can't make any letters or numbers out, so how would I go about fixing it?? Take it to a repair shop? How much would that cost?
