It has been shutting itself off for a couple of months & when I turned it off it came right back on. Now the problem has gotten worse. Now it was shutting off every few hours & it would turn its self back on when I unplugged it & plugged it back in. Now my tv wont even come on. As soon as you turn it on it shuts itself right back off & the red light starts blinking. Please help if anyone might know what could be causing this problem. Thank You.....

sounds like the sleep timer programming might be messed up. Most electronic TV controls have a sleep timer you can set for 1, 2 or more hours where If you fall asleep it will auto turn off

the red light blinking is an error code.....
somethign aint right...
the IC that controls the power on/off is probably dead.
if you can get ahold of a decent schematic you could probably find which chip it is but you probably would not be able to buy it yourself.............
if the tv is old then buy a new one. it will probably be about the same price as paying somebody to fix it for you.

if u have something sitting on it such as a cloth or towel or something then ur blocking the vents and causing it to heat up and eventually shut off every now and then. otherwise the only thing i can think of is ur cathode tube must be busted.
