Cheap way....

Get an old VCR. You only need the electronics, the mechanical parts don't even need to be in working order.

Feed your DVD outputs into the VCR inputs. Run your antenna/cable into the VCR antenna in jack.

Connect the antenna out on the VCR to the antenna in on your TV. Connect the VCR's sound out jacks to a stereo or computer speakers with a head phone jack.

Use the VCR as a RF modulator for your DVDs and a TV tuner for your TV. When you want to use headphones, turn the TV's sound off and plug your headphones into the stereo/computer speakers.

You can get a wireless headphone set, and a set of Y adaptor cables....

You take the DVD's RCA cables, connect the Y adaptor cables to the audio left/right cables --- one side goes to the RF modulator for TV sound, and the other goes to your wireless....
Then you can listen to the TV <> turn down the sound and use the Wireless headphones !

How simple is that eh?

A LOT SIMPLER than that Complicated Jury-Rigging above me....ALL THOSE BUTTONS TO PUSH < to get sound?
You'll lose the setup in no time...
MAKE it SIMPLE to operate.....ON and OFF is as simple as it gets.
