For a 32" tube TV... it's going to cost you as much to repair it, as it would be to buy a new one... Not worth it...

There are several things to check before you cry. Sniff around the case and power supply does anything smell burnt . On upper end power supplys there is an on and off switch and some have a reset . Hit the reset if its there and flip the pwer switch off Check to see if power is at the out let (As was mentioned before )you may have been plugged into a GFI (ground fault interupter or Arc Fault Interupter ) that is reset in the houses fuse panel and doesnt appear at the electric wall out let .UNLESS there is no power at the out let do not go in the house fuse panel! If thers power at the wall out let then plug your Monitor directly into the electric outlet not the surge protector , they often go bad after a surge . A light should be blinking on your monitor usually in the right hand corner If it is then plug your computer power cord in and flip on switch . Turn computer on Do you here anything /fans spinning/ hard drive turning or see lights ? It might not be your mother board it could be your power supply Check that out at a best buy or computer shop. When your looking at your mother board do you see any damage to the capacitators: they look like round pegs sticking up from board(blistered , blackened) or any signs of arcing across circuit board, if so the board is definately shot. Have your power supply checked out If its bad replace it and hopefully there was no damage to your mb. One or both could be bad. If this is a new computer and still under warrenty/ Then there was NO power surge. It just up and quit and YOU WERE plugged into a surge protector and when they give you a new one say Thank You

Walmart has a 32" RCA for about $250.00 now, but it is not the RCA that we used to buy. We have a 32" Sylvania from Sears, that is 4 years old, and the picture tube is going. They are throw away items, and not worth fixing. Sylvania nor RCA has a good track record these days. Not like our old RCA that is 15 years old, and still has a perfect picture.

Well I had a TV with a power surge problem also. I really don't think it is worth even trying to fix. I just went out and got another TV. But yours is a 32" TV, which is a good size TV. You may want to take it in and ask about it. Mine was only a 21 inch TV. So for me I was just better off to buy a new one. I wish you luck in trying to fix your TV.

If you are lucky, a fuse blew and if it is replaced your TV should be as good as new. Inside the TV, near to where the power cord connects, there should be a board with at least 1 fuse on it. A multimeter can be used to test for continuity. If you have no knowledge of electronics, find someone who does. It is an easy job for someone who knows what he or she is doing.

Buy a HD LCD TV today and be future compatible. You need to have a ATSC tuner in order to use any of the new stereo equipment too, so dont bother with old equipment anymore.

It has passed on sorry. Time to buy a new one. Insurance should pay or you could always try and get the power company to replace it for you.
