I was looking at HDTV options, and most of the new ones seem to have that option.

H fill is when you take a 4:3 video (black bars on right and left side of screen) and stretch it horizontally to fill out a 16:9 (wide screen) HDTV set. I personally don't like how things look in that mode as everything is out of proportion due to the stretching.

Here is an article that talks about aspect ratios with examples.

On some HDTVs now, they have more options in the display mode, like 1) Full -( 16: 9 images)
2) 4:3 ( displays standard Def images with gray vertical side bars)
3) Just, H-Fill, and Zoom( which stretch or zoom standard images to fill the TV's 16:9 screen)
All these modes can be selected with a range of program types, except H-Fill ( Horizontal Fill), which is for Hi Def in-puts only.
