Yes, the digital TVs also include an analog (NTSC) tuner for backwards compatibility.

Keep in mind that analog TV programs may not look quite so good on a large screen. Having a large screen makes the flaws in the analog signal more obvious.

Cable companies in the US will be required to keep analog service until 2012, but they have the option of changing their systems to all digital and supplying converter boxes to their analog customers.

Some cable companies use signals called "QAM" to send non-premium programing. If your cable system does this, you might want to look for a TV that includes a "QAM" tuner. This would allow you to see that kind of programing without a cable box, once the analog cable TV goes away.

Old type OTA TV signals = NTSC = "Analog TV"
New type OTA TV signals = ATSC = "Digital TV" = DTV
Non-premium channels on some cable systems = QAM

Hello, I am here. Here is the deal. I have worked for comcast for a year. They say you will not have analog service after 2009. Right? Why because they are trying to weave out the analog channels. Channels like 2-99. Every company is running off of digital signal now. Directv of course. They only have basic channels in analog. They tell you that you have to do this, you have to do that its crazy. I use to install cable in retirement homes and they still had analog. Basic hook up just like you. They were not pushing the sales reps to force them into upgrading to digital boxes. These people had basic cable. LOL. They say as long as you have a digital television you should be able to use your basic service. Thats
what they say, BUT.... they may eventually want you to upgrade to a digital box. They say soon the screen will be black with out box in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. I am not sure were you are from but listen to me. Stay attentive to this issue. No lye

Your digital TV will be displaying the basic cable analog TV. Cable providers are required to continue to provide analog versions of your local OTA TV until 2012. They can do this either by carrying the analog signal on the cable or supplying you a converter box that will convert their digital signal to analog. Any other channels you are now receiving in addition to the local OTA ones are not covered. So if you are receiving channels like discovery Etc.,the cable company is not required to furnish them without you using a cable box. If your new TV has a QAM receiver, then you would not need a cable box to receive non-premium digital channels.

You did not rather define what "trouble-free troubleshooting" you probably did which might have helped. yet in any case you may desire to verify your router that provides you your internet to work out if the easy that shows connection with the WAN part is robust if its blinking then its probable a controversy with your ISP. None the fewer make effective the cables are on tight and the ethernet cables are snapped in. If that doesn't paintings attempt pinging to a internet site. If it resolves the call yet cases out that's a modem or router subject and you may desire to reset it or them (this means unplugging the gadget for fifteen seconds and plugging it lower back in do not hit the production facility reset button) If it says, "ping request can not discover host" or some thing of that nature than you have no internet by any skill via fact your DNS isn't working. lower back attempt resetting the two. If the reset does not paintings in the two cases than your router is probable tousled, to objective this ping it around one hundred cases (the command is ping -n one hundred **default gateway** the place **default gateway** is the IP handle of your router.) If it drops a multitude of packets than the router is tousled. If it does not respond in any respect then there is an threat that the router continues to be tousled yet greater beneficial than possibly the ping is being blocked and you will could desire to alter the router to the place it accepts ICMP echo requests and attempt the attempt lower back. If it does not drop a single one then your ISP is having themes and you will't rather do any ingredient yet watch for them to restoration them and in line with threat call them for the status. additionally i don't think its the firewall on your close by device blocking off the internet nor do i think its internet settings (except you replaced them), via fact maximum working structures (living house windows, MAC, Linux and so on...) come preconfigured to permit internet get entry to when you consider that maximum end purchasers do not prefer to could desire to bypass via and open up the ports on the firewall. additionally maximum firewalls won't block the ICMP reaction if it originated from the device the firewall is contemporary on. desire this helps solid success!
